I have both of the Grizzly Pneumatic drum sanders. The sleeves are like $5 a piece, and frankly, not worth it. I would like to make my own sleeves. Has anyone done this? How?

I usually get the best deal from the Klingspor woodworking store. And a good quality abrasive.

Here's the problem. My required sizes are 7.5 x 2.25 and 4x1.125. I like these sanders, but not a huge fan of grizzly paper. Klingspor does not carry them. I like their paper. I look at how these things are built and it's just paper with a tape binder. Filament tape. Surely someone has "rolled their own". No?

We use Grizzly 100 grit sleeves -- they are not made with paper backed abrasive, actually Pasco MU22 cloth backed. Never had a seam fail and they stay unclogged and pretty aggressive for a long time. I am sure there are more expensive choices, but at least the 100 grit work fine for us.

That's who I use. Their sanding sleeves seem to be high quality; they are long-lasting and I haven't had any come apart.
